Death is Liberation

This short was another experiment in rigging in Cinema 4D. The moaning flower idea came in part from being inspired by an instillation in the Philbrook Museum of Art that I had seen when I was young. It was two distorted faces projected onto two blobs, both of them babbling gibberish and moving in unnatural ways.

Most of the other kids on the field trip were too weirded out by it, but I was fascinated.

I borrowed from its aesthetic and put a face reminiscent of one from the exhibit on a flower with a challenging rig. The mouth movements were motion captured from my own mouth, and volume of the “voice” is controlled automatically by how open the mouth is.

In the end, it’s a short about family.
