END.
END is an experimental short film created in collaboration with Ricardo Sanchez and Tye Mauch. The project was originally conceived by Ricardo, who sent both Tye and I his illustrations along with his vision for the short, for an art show.
I animated Ricardo’s illustrations by hand to create the main narrative of the short, and Tye provided the 3D animations seen throughout.
Once we had all of the original animation completed, I created the final edit of the short by running it all through a homemade analog video bending setup, which allowed me to create the psychedelic glitch effects while mashing and distorting our animations together with VHS tapes found in a thrift store.
To celebrate the analog inspirations of the project, we produced a small number of “bootleg” VHS tapes of the short to be sold at art shows and marketplaces.
